How Much Do Gas Prices Affect Austin’s Economy? | Alliance for Public Transportation

Pelosi's destructive policies caused this current recession. In 2007 Nancy Pelosi attacked Oil producers thereby driving the price of gasoline up to as high as $5/gallon in some places. Below is an example of what it cost just one area in Austin TX. Because of Pelosi, Americans spent over $650BILLION more a year on Gasoline and energy there by taking all that money out of the economy and peoples pockets to pay their mortgages and credit cards.

"Central Texans are expending a good portion of their treasure on commuting. Here’s another way to look at it: Gasoline costs per capita went from $1098/year in 2000 to $3028/year in 2008. (2009 CNT) That’s greater than inflation (which excludes gas volatility) The five county area had 1.64 million people in 2008 (COA demographer), meaning that those people spent $3.2 billion (3,180 million million) more on gas than that same number of people would have spent in the year 2000."
